CaSA were appointed to correct the former unsympathetic alterations, to unlock the potential of the cow byre, and to completely refurbish the remaining house. Given the heritage listing this required good attention to detail and a comprehensive handling of design and planning process. This care was continued through much of the construction work where close site supervision was essential to ensure delivery of the design aspirations.
The completed work included internal reconfiguration, new double height glazed screens to front and back, a new staircase and double height entrance atrium, and a minimalist kitchen dining intervention within the cow byre. The result is a coherent set of upgrades and additions that respect the historic fabric whilst providing exceptional modern living with respect to both standards and design style.
